Detailed Description
On certain Audi and Volkswagen vehicles equipped 2.0 liter engines, the mesh screen oil filter in the OE camshaft bridge cover tends to fail from the pressure of pulsations generated by the oil circuit. The pulsations can clog the filter with debris or cause the junction between the mesh screen and its plastic housing to fail and push the separated filter components into the engine lubrication system. Either condition starves the engine for oil, reduces engine power and can cause stalling, irregular idle, and a check engine light. This Dorman OE FIX camshaft bridge cover features an upgraded one-piece stainless steel housing with a mesh screen laser-welded into place instead of the factory design's plastic housing that holds the screen in place with a brass ring that can loosen and fall off. The screen mesh in our filter also has 3X the tensile strength and larger openings than the OE filter - small enough to capture damaging debris, while mitigating the harmful effects of oil pressure pulsations. This improved cover design is engineered to provide the protection specified Audi and Volkswagen engines need for peak performance and eliminate worries about costly damage from unfiltered contaminants and a factory-designed filter prone to breakage during normal engine operations
- Better fix - this engine timing cover features a redesigned oil filter that resists clogging and breakage to better protect the engine from harmful oil pulsations and oil contaminants
- Upgraded materials - the integrated filter is a one-piece stainless steel housing with the mesh screen laser-welded into place, rather than the factory's multi-piece plastic design
- Fully tested - in hot oil immersion tests simulating extreme engine temperatures, the mesh screen in the upgraded filter tested to 3X the tensile strength of the original screen
