The variable timing solenoid gasket is a component used to maintain a proper seal and prevent oil leaks in the variable valve timing (VVT) system. This system uses solenoids that release pressurized oil to camshaft phasers to alter and control the engine's valve timing, raise a vehicle's fuel efficiency, increase horsepower, and lower emissions. The system times the opening and closing of the valves by activating and deactivating the VVT solenoid, which then extends the valve's open duration to allow for more air and fuel to flow into the cylinder as needed for enhanced performance and efficiency. The solenoid gaskets are installed between the solenoid and the engine block or cylinder head, and should be replaced any time the solenoids are removed for service. Over time, VVT solenoid gaskets can also deteriorate and develop leaks due to wear and tear. This may result in poor gas mileage, vibrating while at idle, pressurized oil leaks, or the Check Engine light activating. If your Check Engine light is on, then have your Check Engine light scanned for free at any local O'Reilly Auto Parts store to help begin your diagnosis. If you need a replacement VVT solenoid or solenoid gasket, the parts professionals at O'Reilly Auto Parts can help you find the best replacement VVT parts for your vehicle and repair.
