Ford Taurus Variable Valve Timing (VVT) Solenoid

The variable valve timing solenoid is a component of the VVT system on your Ford Taurus, which is used to increase fuel efficiency and available power and reduce emissions. The VVT solenoid is activated by the computer and sends pressurized oil to the camshaft actuator, which increases the valve open duration of the intake and exhaust valves. The VVT solenoid can wear out or fail electronically throughout the life of your Taurus, or the oil passage in the VVT solenoid can clog with dirty oil. This makes regular oil changes even more important in an engine equipped with variable valve timing. A faulty VVT solenoid can cause bad gas mileage, vibrations when idling, or activation of the Check Engine light, and may need to be replaced if it has failed. O'Reilly Auto Parts has replacement VVT solenoids and other variable valve timing system parts for your Ford Taurus to help you make a complete repair.
