Steps to Resetting Your Radio and Clock in Your Honda Accord

Resetting the radio code and clock on your 2003-2007 Honda Accord is a relatively simple procedure that can help restore the functions and presets after a battery change or battery failure. The stock radio and clock on older Honda Accord models will reset if the battery cables have been disconnected for more than 15 minutes, requiring a reset to get the radio functioning again. Whether you’ve had a power disruption, completed a battery swap, or have had to remove the radio for any reason, these simple instructions from O’Reilly Auto Parts can help you complete this reset with confidence.

The following video demonstrates how to reset the radio code and clock in a 2006 Honda Accord LX, and the instructions will also apply to 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2007 Honda Accord models that still have their factory-original radios. Many other Honda models from these years will also use the same radio, and procedures will likely be similar for most Hondas in this production range. Consult your owners manual to find exact procedures for your vehicle, as well as the five-digit security code necessary to complete this task.

Reset Your Clock

In three images, our expert turns the key in the ON position and holds the POWER button to put in the code.

Step 1: Prepare Your Accord

Start by making sure the car is in Park and turn the key to the 'ON' position without starting it. Press and hold the POWER button on the stereo until it reads 'CODE'. Use the number buttons below the display to enter the five-digit code.

Step 2: Reset Your Clock

To reset the clock, press and hold the 'SOUND' button until you hear a beep. You’ll see an 'H' and 'M' below these two buttons. Use the 'H' button to reset the hour and the 'M' button to reset minutes. Once you’ve set the correct time, hit the 'SOUND' button again.

Reset Your Stereo

In two images, our expert opens the Honda Accord’s owner’s manual and locates the reset code.

Step 1: Locate Your Reset Code

Locate your car’s Honda ID card, which can be found in the booklet with your vehicle's owners manual. There, you will find a five-digit code you’ll use in the reset procedure.

In three images, our expert locates the Honda’s serial number in two alternate ways: by the sticker in the glovebox or the stereo display.

If you don’t have the ID card, check your glove box for a sticker indicating the eight-digit serial number for your Accord’s stereo.

If there’s no sticker in the glove box, press 1, 6, and POWER buttons at the same time. The stereo display will show the eight-digit number, four digits at a time. Take note of the number for future fixes. The Honda website or a local dealership can supply you with your stereo’s five-digit code.
