Worn trailer bearings are difficult to hear or feel driving down the road until there is major visible failure. Many times the spindle will be damaged and need to be replaced. If you use your trailer every week, or even if it's used only a few times per year, wheel bearings and seals should be inspected frequently. To assess their condition, tow the trailer for ten miles on the highway then check the temperature of the wheel hubs. If they're too warm to touch, the hub bearing may be defective.
