What are Pintle Hitches?

Pintle hitches consist of three main components: the pintle plate, a pintle hook on the vehicle side, and a lunette eye on the trailer side. The pintle hook provides a pivot point for the trailer and offers a greater turning range than a traditional ball-mount coupler for off-road applications, including agricultural and industrial environments. The lunette ring is then secured by a lynch pin once coupled within the jaws of the pintle hook. Depending on the trailer and vehicle combination you use most frequently, a pintle hitch can provide off road towing where wider turning ability is needed. Some pintle hitches even feature a built-in hitch ball to offer even more towing options with only one hitch setup.
