A strut mount bushing can be part of the upper or lower strut mount and is used to reduce noise and vibrations from strut movement. They are usually made of rubber and may have a metal insert or shell to allow a bolt to pass through. Like all rubber parts, the strut mount bushing may wear out with time. This can cause clunking or other suspension noise during cornering or hard braking and acceleration. The strut mount bushing should be replaced any time you replace your struts or strut assembly.
