The water pump on your Ford Focus pushes coolant through the engine to keep it at a stable operating temperature. Water pumps have an impeller inside the water channel that is driven by the pulley, which is attached to the engine belt. The water pump on your Focus also likely has a bearing around the pulley shaft that allows it to spin easily. With time, the water pump impeller, gasket, or the bearing in the water pump on your Focus can fail, causing engine overheating, coolant leaks, or steam from under the hood. Before a water pump fails, it sometimes makes a squeaking sound from the pulley area, and if the shaft is damaged, the belt may slip off of the engine. Engine overheating can quickly cause damage, so if the water pump on your Focus has stopped working, it should be replaced as soon as possible to prevent additional repairs. If the water pump on your Ford Focus has failed, O'Reilly Auto Parts carries replacement water pumps, belts, radiator hoses, and more so you can keep your car on the road.
