The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) pressure feedback sensor, also known as the delta pressure feedback sensor, is used to control your engine's EGR valve. By routing gasses from the exhaust to the intake, the EGR system not only lowers combustion temperatures, but also minimizes nitrous oxide emissions. The EGR pressure feedback sensor works together with the EGR valve to monitor and control the pressure in the EGR system. The EGR sensor measures the difference in pressure and sends the information to the engine control module to determine when to open and close the EGR valve. If the EGR pressure sensor detects the pressure levels are too low, the EGR valve will open to increase flow. If pressure levels are too high, the EGR pressure sensor will close the EGR valve to appropriately regulate the pressure. Any issues with the EGR pressure feedback sensor's performance can lead to engine performance issues and increased emissions. The constant exposure to exhaust gasses can also allow carbon to build up on the sensor, causing false or inaccurate readings. A bad EGR pressure feedback sensor means the EGR valve may not open and close at the right times. This can cause rough idle, incomplete combustion, engine hesitation, decreased engine performance, and reduced gas mileage. It can also trigger a Check Engine light, which you can have scanned for free at your local O'Reilly Auto Parts. If it returns a code for a failing EGR pressure feedback sensor or EGR valve, O'Reilly Auto Parts carries the right EGR pressure feedback sensors, valves, wiring connectors, and more for your vehicle to restore its performance and efficiency.
