What is a Power Steering Reservoir Line?

The power steering system in your vehicle is equipped with a steering fluid reservoir. This reservoir is responsible for storing power steering to be picked up by the power steering pump and pressurized to allow the wheels to be turned more easily. The power steering fluid is transferred through the power steering reservoir line to the pump, and is used by the rack and pinion unit or steering gear box before being circulated back to the reservoir. A failing power steering hose may result in power steering fluid leaks, and low fluid levels can harm the vehicle's power steering system. Without enough power steering fluid, it may be hard to turn the steering wheel, or the pump may experience premature wear and make squealing or grinding noises during operation. If you hear whining noises when you turn your steering wheel, you notice leaks under your vehicle, or if you are having trouble steering, you may be running low on power steering fluid. If you have a leak, inspect your power steering hoses, reservoir, and pump for any cracks or damage, and replace these parts if they are worn out or have failed. O'Reilly Auto Parts carries the right power steering reservoir hoses for your vehicle, as well as power steering pressure and return hoses, power steering fluid, and other steering system components to help you make your repair.
