Get Your Boat Water-Ready

As winter comes to a close, marine enthusiasts start thinking about getting their boats ready for spring. To ensure a boat is safe and running well, there are a number of items a boat owner should inspect and address before getting back on the water.

  • Empty your tank of any leftover gas from last season.
  • Fill up with fresh gasoline.
  • Use a quality marine fuel treatment that fights Ethanol problems, provides extra corrosion protection and fuel system cleaning.

  • If your battery wasn’t on a maintainer in the off-season, give it a good, slow trickle charge.
  • If your battery’s condition is questionable, have it tested at your local O’Reilly Auto Parts store.

  • Check spark plugs and wires for damage.
  • If a spark plug needs to be replaced, chances are another will go bad soon, so save some time and replace them all.
