What is a Wiper Refill?

Wiper blades are designed to safely wipe away and remove any moisture or debris from your windshield while driving. Wiper blades are made of a rubber blade and a wiper bracket or beam, and bracketed wiper blades have joints to distribute tension and flexibility to different points in the arm. In some cases on heavy-duty or older vehicle applications, the rubber wiper element can be replaced and the bracket reused when servicing your wipers. Because the wiper blade element is made of a rubber material and is constantly exposed to a wide range of elements, the rubber insert can dry out, crack, or split. This can cause the wiper blades to perform poorly, resulting in skipping, streaking, or squeaking during use. Typically, when it is time to replace the blade, it is advised that you replace both wiper blades at the same time to ensure they perform at the same level. If it is possible to replace only the rubber portion using a wiper blade refill, it is also a good idea to install refills in both wipers at the same time If your wiper blade frame is still providing adequate pressure and functioning properly, but one or both of your wiper blade inserts are damaged, a wiper refill may be a solution to poorly performing wiper blades that can help you maintain the best visibility.
