What Are Hitch Pin Clips?
A hitch pin, also known as a hitch clip or receiver lock, is a metal rod designed to prevent ball mount shanks from slipping out of the hitch receiver tube. These pins fit into the side of the hitch receiver and through the ball mount shank, coming out the other side of the receiver. Hitch pin clips are used to prevent hitch pins from coming loose for safe, secure towing performance. These fasteners are necessary for removable or mobile components, like trailer hitches or farm equipment. Hitch pin clips are designed to keep ball mounts in place and to decrease the risk of equipment breaking free while on the road, and are a requirement, along with the hitch pin, ball mount, and hitch ball, when preparing your vehicle for towing. To protect your investment, a receiver lock can be used in place of a hitch pin and clip and will secure the ball mount to the hitch to help prevent theft. O'Reilly Auto Parts carries the towing parts and accessories you need to keep your vehicle hauling safely and effectively, including ball mounts, hitch pins, and hitch pin clips.
