A ball joint press is a large C-clamp with a hole in the top to allow the ball joint stud to pass through. They can be used to press out the old ball joint and install the new one. Most ball joints are press fit, though some may bolt on to the control arm and do not need a ball joint press. Once positioned above the stud of the ball joint, the press can be tightened until the old joint is removed. The new ball joint can be pressed in with the press flipped. A ball joint press can also be used for U-joint replacement or brake anchor pins. If you need a ball joint press or other suspension tools, check our selection at O'Reilly Auto Parts.
