Keep Gauges Working for Safety

It is extremely important to have all of the gauges working in your instrument cluster. Working gauges give you the ability to quickly glance at the cluster to ensure your vehicle systems are working correctly. Driving without any of the gauges can be a safety issue, because you may not know if you are driving within the speed limit or if a system is experiencing failure or damage. Many states will also prevent a vehicle from passing a vehicle safety inspection if specific gauges have failed. Gauges may stop working due to a failing sensor or the gauge itself, so you may need to diagnose what is causing a gauge failure. Most clusters include a speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, and temperature gauge, but your cluster may also include voltage and oil pressure gauges. If your vehicle has a turbo or supercharger, it may also have a boost gauge to monitor its efficiency. If a gauge stops working, it is recommended to repair or replace the gauge as soon as possible. You can even add gauges to the dash, pillar, or elsewhere if needed to more accurately monitor the condition of various systems on your performance vehicle.
