2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - EGR Valve Control Switch
Replacing an EGR Valve Control Switch
An exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve control switch is an electrical component used to automatically adjust the EGR valve. The EGR valve allows unburned exhaust gasses back into the engine's cylinders, and this process of recirculating exhaust gasses helps reduce emissions and controls the combustion chamber temperatures. If you notice pinging or knocking sounds from your engine, rough idle, reduced power or fuel economy, or poor acceleration, then it may indicate an issue with the EGR valve and the EGR valve control switch. In some cases, a failing EGR valve control switch may also trigger a Check Engine light. If this occurs, visit your local O'Reilly Auto Parts for a free Check Engine light scan to help you begin your diagnosis. O'Reilly Auto Parts also carries the parts you need to make your repair, including replacement EGR valves, control switches, and other EGR system parts for most vehicles.
