The acceleration sensor provides data on the speed of your vehicle with road pitch or slope to the electronic stability control. The ESC uses the data to know how much brake force to apply to each wheel to regain stability. A failing acceleration sensor can cause the wrong data to be sent to the ESC. This can cause the ESC to engage at the wrong time or not at all and may create an unsafe driving situation. If your ABS light is on, especially when accelerating, your acceleration sensor may need to be replaced. It may also trigger the Check Engine light which you can have scanned to see if it is the acceleration sensor. If you need a replacement, O'Reilly Auto Parts carries acceleration sensors for your car, truck, or SUV.
