What is a Headlight Adjusting Screw

The headlight adjustment screw allows your vehicle's headlights to be adjusted as needed, as well as keeping them in position and aimed correctly. Headlight adjustment screws often thread into a metal or plastic clip installed in the radiator support or headlight bucket of the vehicle. These clips and the headlight adjustment screws themselves can suffer damage due to cross-threading, corrosion, or in an accident, and this may prevent your headlights from staying properly aligned. When a headlight adjustment screw fails, you may notice a slight bounce to your headlights while driving, or it may change the alignment and direction of your headlights. If your headlights no longer offer the down-road visibility you expect, or if the headlight assembly seems loose, it might be a good idea to check the condition of the headlight, lens housing, and any attachment points, including the headlight adjustment screws. If the headlight adjustment screws are loose or you are unable to adjust your headlights and keep them straight, then it might be time for a new headlight adjustment screw or other headlight assembly hardware.
