Brake Lamp Socket Replacement

A brake lamp socket connects the brake lamp bulb to the vehicle's electrical system, and secures the bulb in place to prevent premature wear or damage. The brake bulb socket allows the bulb to receive signals from the brake switch, which activates the brake lights when the brake pedal is engaged. Brake lamps, also called stop lamps or brake lights, are a critical safety feature in vehicles, as they signal to other drivers when the brakes are applied and indicate that the vehicle is slowing down or coming to a stop. If a vehicle's brake lights stop working, it can cause safety issues for the driver and others on the road. In most cases, one brake light not functioning is an indication of a burnt bulb, but if both brake lights stop working at the same time, it could indicate an issue with the fuse, relay, or brake switch. If you notice corrosion in the socket, or replace the bulb and it still doesn't work, it may be necessary to wire in a new brake light socket to restore connection and brake light operation. O'Reilly Auto Parts carries a selection of light sockets for interior and exterior lights, including replacement brake light bulbs and bulb sockets for a complete repair.
