Replacing an Ignition Coil Connector

An ignition coil connector is an electrical component that connects the ignition coil to a vehicle's wiring harness, and is responsible for converting the electrical signal from the vehicle's battery into a high-voltage spark that ignites the air-fuel mixture in the engine's cylinders. Over time, the ignition coil connector's electrical contacts may become damaged or corrode due to wear and tear or exposure to the elements. Poor electrical contact can cause symptoms of a bad ignition coil connector, such as rough idling or the inability to maintain a constant idle, misfires, poor acceleration, or decreased fuel efficiency. Depending on the type of damage that has occurred and the design of your ignition system, a damaged ignition coil connector may also prevent your vehicle from starting at all. If the Check Engine light is on, have the engine code scanned for free at any O'Reilly Auto Parts store to see if the diagnostic code is related to the ignition system, and complete a thorough inspection of your ignition system to determine the source of the problem. O'Reilly Auto Parts has everything you need for a complete ignition system repair, including replacement coils, ignition coil connectors, spark plugs, distributor parts, and more.
