2016 Ford Focus - Spark Plug Non-Fouler
What Does a Spark Plug Non-Fouler Do?
A spark plug non-fouler protects the end of a spark plug from oil contamination inside the cylinder of a vehicle that's burning a significant amount of oil. Oil entering the cylinders and burning can be caused by worn valve seals that allow oil to drip past the valve, causing black or gray smoke from the exhaust and eventually leading to excessive buildup on the valves which could cause problems with compression and valve operation. In vehicles that burn excessive oil, the spark plugs also run the risk of being contaminated, and the plugs typically need to be cleaned or changed more than they would otherwise. Spark plug non-foulers can provide a temporary fix if your vehicle starts to misfire and your spark plugs appear burned or damaged, or if you can see visible oil contamination on the spark plug electrode that may lead them to no longer fire as they should. Installing a set of spark plug non-foulers may help extend the life of older engines that burn an excessive amount of oil without excessive disassembly and costly machine shop service or component replacement. O'Reilly Auto Parts carries spark plugs, non-fouler spark plug inserts, and other ignition system parts to keep your vehicle running at its best.
