2000 Chevrolet Blazer - Spark Plug Heat Shield
A spark plug heat shield placed over the spark plug wire boot helps to keep heat from the exhaust manifold from damaging the boot. These insulating boot covers are usually installed from the factory on boots that ran too close to the exhaust manifold. Some are metal shields while others may be a stretchable wire protector sleeve that slides over the spark plug wire. If your spark plug boots have been damaged by the exhaust manifold, consider rerouting the wires or applying thermal wire sleeving. If that is not possible, installing a spark plug heat shield may help. O'Reilly Auto Parts carries spark plug heat shields for select models. We also carry wire sleeving and new spark plug wire sets to complete your repair.
