Body, Alignment, and Starter Shims
Shims are used in many places throughout your vehicle to ensure proper alignment and orientation of several types of parts. This can include engine-related shims like water pump and starter alignment shims, which are designed to add space and ensure proper clearance when installing these parts. In addition to those shims found on or around the engine, body alignment shims are very common during the installation of body panels to provide proper clearances between body panels, prevent rub, and also keep body lines even and aligned. These shims are available in a variety of sizes and are designed to be installed around bolts or attaching hardware on the panels to hold them in place when the panel is tightened.
Many modern vehicles are designed with suspension systems that require alignment shims to ensure accurate, lasting alignment adjustment. Though not all vehicles require alignment shims to be properly aligned, a variety of alignment shim sizes are available at O'Reilly Auto Parts to help make the necessary alterations to restore driveability and minimize the risk of premature tire or suspension wear.
Body, Clutch, and Suspension Bushings
Bushings are designed to tighten tolerances and absorb vibrations, and are used throughout the body, clutch, and suspension of your vehicle. Many bushings found in the body mounting hardware and suspension on your vehicle are made using rubber or polyurethane with a metal inner sleeve to dampen vibrations and allow for some degree of compression while driving. Suspension and body bushings should usually be replaced when they begin to degrade or separate, which can cause excessive movement, noise, and driveability concerns. O'Reilly carries a variety of suspension bushings, including control arm bushings, sway bar bushings, wiper motor bushings, replacement body mounts, and more. We also stock replacement clutch pilot bushings and bearings if you're ready to make a clutch repair.
