2006 Cadillac SRX - Air Intake Hose
What is an Air Intake Hose?
The air intake hose is a component of your vehicle's air intake system which connects the air filter box to the engine's throttle body and delivers filtered air to the intake plenum and manifold. When your engine is running, it draws air through the air filter and air intake hose to the throttle body, and finally to the engine. This process provides the air needed to mix with fuel for combustion. Because the air intake hose is typically made of rubber or plastic, cracks and leaks may form over time or due to improper installation. In some cases, the mass air flow (MAF) sensor may also be integrated into the intake hose system, and might also need to be replaced or cleaned at the same time. If you have a leak in your air intake hose, you may notice rough idle, poor gas mileage, or loss of power due to unfiltered air or a lean fuel mixture if the MAF sensor is bypassed. These symptoms may be similar to those of a fuel injection problem, and a complete diagnosis should be performed to determine the source of the problem. It is often easy to inspect the air intake hose by removing it and checking for any signs of cracking, splitting, or other areas where leaks could occur. If your air intake hose is damaged, O'Reilly Auto Parts carries replacement air intake hoses, MAF sensors, air filters, and more for a variety of vehicles to complete your repair.
