Nissan Altima Variable Valve Timing (VVT) Solenoid

The variable valve timing (VVT) solenoid on your Nissan Altima is part of the VVT system, which improves fuel efficiency and horsepower while lowering fuel emissions. This is done by adjusting the valve duration of the intake and exhaust valves operated by the camshafts. The VVT solenoid on your Altima uses oil pressure to activate the camshaft actuators when additional power is needed. Oil pressure is a factor when the VVT solenoid is being used, and dirty oil in your Altima can clog the oil passageway and the VVT solenoid, preventing it from working as it should. You may have an issue with the VVT solenoid if the vehicle is getting bad gas mileage, if you are experiencing vibrations while idling, or the Check Engine light may come on to alert you that the VVT solenoid is failing to activate as needed. If you need a replacement, shop O'Reilly Auto Parts for a VVT solenoid to repair your Nissan Altima.
