Ford F-Series Variable Valve Timing (VVT) Solenoid

The variable valve timing (VVT) solenoid is designed to engage and disengage the variable valve timing components, which will advance or retard engine timing by adjusting the valve duration using the crankshaft. The VVT solenoid does this by limiting or directing oil pressure to various VVT components. It is vital that engine oil stays clean for the proper operation of the VVT solenoid and valve timing system. If the oil becomes very dirty, or with age, the solenoid can become clogged and stop working. Signs that your Ford F-Series may need a replacement variable valve timing solenoid include an erratic idle, engine vibrations, especially at idle, poor fuel mileage, or the Check Engine light may come on. If your Ford truck needs a replacement variable valve timing solenoid, an oil filter, or motor oil, O'Reilly Auto Parts carries the right parts for a full VVT system repair.
