Subaru Outback Oil Pump

The oil pump on your Subaru Outback is driven by the camshaft to pressurize motor oil and push it throughout the engine, keeping it properly lubricated, clean, and cool. Most oil pumps are located at the bottom of the engine block, but they can sometimes be found behind the timing cover, or on the side of the engine block, depending on the vehicle. With age, oil pumps can become weak or they may stop working, resulting in low oil pressure or a lack of oil circulation. If the oil pressure warning light has come on the dash of your Outback, if you are hearing loud slapping, ticking, or knocking noises from the engine, or if the oil gauge reads very low or at zero, the oil pump may need to be replaced. Check your oil levels to ensure there is plenty of oil available, and top it off if necessary. O'Reilly Auto Parts carries oil pumps, oil pan gaskets, and motor oil for your Subaru Outback to get your SUV back on the road.
