Why Do I Need a Performance Intake Manifold Gasket?

If you are interested in upgrading or reinstalling your vehicle's performance intake manifold, you may want to consider upgrading to performance intake manifold gaskets as well. The intake manifold is made up of a series of channelss designed to ensure that the air coming into the engine is evenly distributed to all of the engine cylinders. Intake manifolds distribute fuel and air to the engine cylinders, and the intake manifold gasket seals the area between the manifold and the cylinder head. This gasket prevents air and fluid from leaking between the space where these two components meet. It also prevents outside debris from entering the fuel and air mixture, and limits the risk of coolant loss or vacuum leaks. High-performance and racing vehicles equipped with performance intake manifolds will need performance intake manifold gaskets as well to perform appropriately in extreme conditions. Performance gaskets are typically made with a stronger material to strengthen the seal between the intake manifold and the cylinder head, and might also be designed to be installed between less than ideal sealing surfaces.
