Your Jeep Wrangler's EGR system moves a portion of your exhaust back into the cylinders, replacing some of the combustible oxygen into nitrogen gas, which helps lower combustion temperature. This system is controlled by the EGR valve, which opens to allow exhaust to enter the intake. The EGR valve is typically mounted to the intake manifold and sealed using a gasket to prevent vacuum leaks. When the EGR valve gasket on your Wrangler fails, it may cause the valve to leak and outside air to be pulled into the engine. This can result in a loss of power, rough or high idle, or your Check Engine Light may come on. Long periods of lean conditions in your engine can also cause damage if not addressed. If you need a replacement EGR valve or EGR valve gasket, turn to O'Reilly Auto Parts to keep your Jeep Wrangler running at its best.
