Ford Escape Crankshaft Seal

The crankshaft on your Ford Escape has both a front and rear seal. The front crankshaft seal is located on the bottom of the engine, behind the crankshaft pulley and harmonic balancer and often installed in the timing cover. The rubber or silicone seal crankshaft seal is made to stop oil from leaking out of the front of the engine. With age, the crankshaft seal can fail and allow oil to leak around the harmonic balancer. Until you can make your repair, be sure to inspect the engine oil level frequently to prevent engine damage, and check the front of your engine for signs of an oil leak to determine the source. If your Ford Escape needs a replacement crankshaft seal, O'Reilly Auto Parts carries crankshaft seals, rear main seals, timing cover gaskets, and the tools you need to get the job done.
