1964 Buick LeSabre - EGR Valve
Buick LeSabre EGR Valve
The exhaust gas recirculation system, or EGR, is an emissions system on your Buick LeSabre that is made to recirculate some of the exhaust gas back into the intake manifold using the EGR valve so exhaust gas can be used in place of air for combustion. This will dilute the oxygen level in the combustion chamber and reduce overall combustion temperatures and further cut nitrogen oxide levels in the exhaust. With age, the EGR valve or solenoid can become inoperative or stuck open or closed. If your Buick LeSabre has lower gas mileage or a lack of power, if the vehicle has failed an emission test, or if you hear pinging sounds from the engine, the EGR valve may need to be inspected or replaced. The Check Engine light may also turn on to alert you a problem with the EGR valve. If your Buick LeSabre needs a replacement EGR valve, gasket, or other EGR or emissions parts O'Reilly Auto Parts carries the right replacement parts to keep your vehicle on the road.
