The power steering pressure switch on the Ford Mustang transmits information to the engine computer about the power steering's load and power demands. The power steering adds to the load on the engine, and the engine computer may adjust idle speed to make up for the power loss. If the power steering pressure switch on your Mustang stops working, you may notice the engine revs dropping when steering. Your engine may also stall at low speeds or when parking. If you notice these signs, check your power steering pressure switch and fluid levels. Make sure to check your power steering pump and hoses if you notice any fluid leaks, and replace the power steering pressure switch if it is no longer sending accurate signals.
