Ford F-Series Thermostat Housing and Water Outlet
The water outlet or thermostat housing on your Ford F-Series allows coolant to flow back to the radiator when the thermostat is open. If the housing develops a leak, the loss of coolant can cause the engine to overheat. This might also indicate a problem with the thermostat itself, so inspect the water outlet and replace the thermostat housing gasket whenever you replace the thermostat.
