A constant velocity (CV) half-shaft seal is located where the CV shaft attaches to the transaxle and is designed to prevent fluid from leaking from around the CV shaft. Also called a CV axle seal, this component seals oil or grease from leaking out of the transmission or differential housing by sealing the entry and exit points of the CV shaft.
