Dodge Ram CV Axle Shaft

The CV axle or CV shaft on your four-wheel drive Dodge Ram transfers the power from the front differential to the wheels of your truck. The shaft has CV (constant velocity) joints that are continuously turning and flexing to provide power to the wheels without binding, even as the suspension moves. The CV joints are covered with a protective boot to keep dirt out and keep the grease inside the joint. Both the boot and the CV joint on your Ram can fail over time. Signs that the CV joint or boot may have failed include a clicking or popping sound from the wheels when you make a turn, vibration or shaking when accelerating, or if you see grease on the inside of the tire.
