Volkswagen Jetta Thermostats

The Volkswagen Jetta's thermostat controls the flow of the coolant that moves between the radiator and the engine. The thermostat will open and close at set temperatures in order to regulate the coolant's temperature and release it to the radiator for cooling. If your Volkswagen's thermostat is stuck open, it can cause the engine to be slow to heat up, which may ultimately impact the performance of the engine. The thermostat in your Jetta may also stick closed, which can cause overheating due to a lack of coolant movement. Signs that your Jetta's thermostat could be failing may include the cabin heater not working well, engine overheating, your Jetta slowly reaching operating temperature, and damage to the internal components of the engine. If you suspect a problem with your thermostat, check your coolant levels and the condition of your radiator hoses to ensure a complete diagnosis. O'Reilly Auto Parts carries replacement thermostats, radiators, and coolant to keep your VW Jetta running cool.
