Ford Escape Coolant and Antifreeze

The engine coolant in your Ford Escape has several functions. Also called antifreeze, coolant's primary function is to circulate between the engine and the radiator to keep the engine operating at a stable temperature. Antifreeze has a freezing point that is lower than water, which means that it will remain in a fluid state even when temperatures drop low during cooler weather. Coolant can also help to reduce the potential for corrosion inside of the engine that may otherwise be caused by water. Low levels of coolant may lead to overheating and engine damage. Signs of low coolant levels may include seeing the temperature gauge reading higher than it usually does, steam coming out from under the hood or your Escape's heater may stop working. If you suspect a leak, keep an eye on your Escape's coolant levels and top them off when needed to prevent engine damage. O'Reilly Auto Parts carries coolant, belts, hoses, and more for your Escape to help you maintain your cooling system.
