What is a Panhard Bar Bushing?

The track bar or Panhard bar is a stabilizing component designed to keep the front or rear axle properly aligned with the center of your vehicle. The Panhard bar bushing connects the track bar to the axle to keep your suspension precise, aligned, and prevent unwanted lateral movement by centering the axle and allowing for horizontal movement during operation. These bushings provide an essential link between the steering and suspension systems in your vehicle, maintaining stability and limiting the risk of rollover or misalignment. The Panhard bar bushings are commonly made of rubber, and can wear out or break down over time and use. Worn bushings can result in misalignment, vibration in the steering wheel, wobbling, and noises under the front end while driving. You may also notice loose or imprecise steering and poor handling. A loose track bar bushing can allow your axle to shift from side to side, resulting in unsafe driving conditions and increasing the risk of an accident. If you are experiencing suspension issues, check your track bar and track bar bushings for signs of damage, wear, or failure. If you need to replace your Panhard bar bushings, O'Reilly Auto Parts can help you find the right replacement track bar assemblies and track bar bushings for your vehicle.
