A spindle or spindle hub assembly and wheel bearing allows your wheels to turn. It is mounted on the top and bottom to ball joints, and also attached to the tie rods which provide turning control. It also attaches to the vehicle's hub using the wheel bearings, and the hub connects to the wheel. Though it is rare that a spindle is damaged beyond usability, wheel bearings that wear out and deeply score or cut into the spindle may require the spindle to be replaced.
