What is a Disc Brake Caliper Bracket?

The brake caliper bracket mounts the brake caliper to the knuckle and assists in keeping the brake pads aligned. Brake caliper brackets often also house the disc brake hardware and caliper pins, if equipped. The caliper pins keep the caliper moving freely and slide through the caliper bracket when installed. These pins are usually greased and protected by a rubber boot to keep them moving freely. Brake caliper brackets themselves don't often fail, but if the caliper guide pins are especially corroded, it may cause internal damage to the caliper bracket. The bracket itself may also become severely corroded, which may prevent the brake pads from moving easily through the bracket. Any time you replace your brake pads, it's a good idea to check the condition of the brake caliper bracket and replace the brake hardware to ensure the best braking performance. If you notice resistance changes in your brake pedal or uneven brake pad wear, it may be due to a stuck caliper pin or a rusted brake caliper slide, and the brake caliper bracket and pins should be checked for corrosion or other signs of damage. If you need to replace your brake caliper bracket, guide pins, or brake pads, O'Reilly Auto Parts carries all the brake repair parts needed to keep your vehicle braking safely.
