What is a Hose Connector?

Hose connectors, also called hose clamps, are used to provide a leak-proof seal for coolant hoses that connect parts of your vehicle's cooling system. The engine water outlet, radiator, water pump, and heater core are all connected by coolant hoses and secured by hose clamps or hose connectors to ensure they can withstand the pressure of the cooling system during operation without leaking. In some cases, quick-connect fittings may be used, but spring clamps, worm-drive clamps, and wire clamps are typically more common. Over time, these hose connectors can wear out or break, which can lead to coolant leaks, your temperature gauge running hot, or steam from under the hood of your vehicle. If you notice any of these symptoms, check your coolant hoses and hose connectors for damage. These symptoms can also point to low coolant levels, water pump or radiator failure, a thermostat that is stuck in closed position, and other factors, so be sure to perform a complete diagnosis to determine the source of your leak or overheating issues. O'Reilly Auto Parts carries hoses and hose clamps for most vehicles to help you make your repair or complete your cooling system service and keep your car running at its best.
