1985 Ford F-150 - Serpentine Belt
Ford F-Series Serpentine Belt
No matter what year your Ford F-Series is, you will want to inspect the serpentine belt regularly. This belt connects all the pulleys of your engine's accessory drive. The belt is driven by the crankshaft to operate the water pump, power steering pump, air conditioning compressor, and alternator. Over time, belts can crack, wear out, or be damaged, or a tensioner or idler pulley may wear out and fail. If you notice squealing or chirping, poor air conditioning performance, charging issues, or power steering failure, your serpentine belt or tensioner may need to be replaced. If you can see cracks, fraying, or other signs of wear, it may be time to replace the belt, and it's usually recommended that the tensioner and idler pulleys be replaced at the same time for a complete repair. If your Ford F-Series truck needs a replacement serpentine belt, tensioner, or other belt drive parts, O'Reilly Auto Parts carries what you need to keep your truck in great condition.
