Ford Fusion Starter

The starter on your Ford Fusion is an electric motor that engages the flexplate to spin the engine when you start your car. The starter includes the bendix, which is a spinning shaft that only extends when it meshes the starter gear with the flexplate. Some starters also have a built-in solenoid that sends voltage to the starter motor when the key is turned. The starter and solenoid can wear out with time. If you hear clicking but the engine won't turn over, the battery could be dead, or the starter motor on your Fusion could be weak. If the starter spins but the engine does not, the bendix may not be engaging. In either case, the starter on your Fusion should be replaced. O'Reilly Auto Parts carries starter motors, solenoids, and car batteries for your Ford Fusion to keep it starting reliably.
