What is an A/C Liquid Hose?

The A/C liquid line, or liquid hose, is responsible for transporting liquid refrigerant from the condenser to the thermal expansion valve (TXV) or orifice tube and the evaporator. Since refrigerant is required to create cool air for the vehicle's cabin, the A/C liquid line allows refrigerant to be cycled continuously to keep the air from the vents cool. A/C liquid hoses are made of barrier-protected rubber designed to reduce refrigeration permeation, and typically include crimped hard lines and fittings to allow them to be connected to the condenser and expansion device. Over time, these rubber hoses can wear down and may crack or break, leading to refrigerant leaks and contamination. A leak in the A/C liquid hose may cause your A/C system to not cool properly, or only cool intermittently. This symptom can apply to many parts in your A/C system, so it is recommended that you inspect all your A/C lines and hoses to make sure they are in good condition. If you have a faulty A/C liquid hose, shop O'Reilly Auto Parts to find the right replacement hose for your vehicle. We have a selection of A/C lines, including A/C liquid hoses, suction hoses, and discharge hoses for most vehicles.
