What is a Blower Motor Wheel?

The blower motor wheel, also called the blower motor fan or blower motor cage, is a fan powered by the blower motor to move air through your vehicle's heating, ventilation, and A/C system system. The blower motor fan helps control the temperature in your vehicle by moving air over the A/C evaporator or heater core into the cabin, and changes the temperature according to the position of the blend door and driver preference. If you notice little or no air coming from your vents, check your blower motor and blower motor wheel. You may hear noises from under your dash if the blower motor or blower motor fan are damaged, or notice signs of physical damage to the wheel itself. If the blower motor wheel is missing blades, is dented or cracked, or if it has failed entirely, it should be replaced. It is often a good idea to also inspect the condition of the blower motor at the same time, as a complete replacement blower motor and wheel assembly may be available for select vehicles.
