What is a Keyless Car Entry System?

Most modern vehicles are equipped with keyless entry systems that don't require a physical key to unlock the doors. The keyless entry system uses a remote or key fob to lock or unlock your vehicle's doors by activating the power locks. The key fob or remote may also include an alarm button and other features that allow you to control parts of your vehicle wirelessly. Most keyless entry fobs, for example, may allow you to open the trunk or lift gate by pressing a button. Key fobs can become damaged over time due to misuse, or may simply stop working as well or at all. If your vehicle is not locking or unlocking when you press the buttons on your remote, you may simply need to replace the battery, so check the condition of your fob battery before opting to replace the remote itself. The plastic case of your keyless entry remote is also easy to damage, but the case can sometimes be replaced separately, so be sure to inspect the case and battery for signs of damage before making a repair. If you've lost or damaged your keyless entry remote, complete programmable remotes are available. If you need a keyless entry remote, a replacement case, or even a new battery, shop O'Reilly Auto Parts for variety of keyless remote options including keyless entry remotes, remote case shells, and replacement key fob batteries for all of your keyless entry needs.
